I have a query about the new Galway to Limerick service due to start next week. Even at this late stage before the launch, it is not possible on the website to book a train ticket from Galway to Cork or Waterford (via Limerick) without being routed via Dublin. I thought that one of the points of the Galway-Limerick connection was to open up access to the other southern cities, avoiding the need to route every journey via Heuston? There is also the issue of the number of connections needed: why would it not be possible to run the Galway to Limerick train on to Waterford, avoiding the need for a change at Limerick Junction? If all trains from Galway continued at least to Limerick Junction, this would mean only one change for a journey from Galway to Cork, rather than two at present (Limerick and Limerick Junction).John Walshnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11965515.post-92008114115694277782010-02-12T07:58:23.171+00:002010-02-12T07:58:23.171+00:00Ciarán, The boys in CIÉ were as usual, economical ...Ciarán, The boys in CIÉ were as usual, economical with facts. I live in Adamstown and the service is pretty bad at present.Take the morning service the first train from Adamstown will not get you into Heuston at 7.20am - not early enough to get you across the city for 8am start. An earlier service not stopping at Adamstown would have you in Hueston for 7.On a Sunday service last train out of Hueston stopping in Adamstown is 18.29 a later train would be welcome. Just a general question why has Hazelhatch 3km down the line without a population got a much more frequent service while Adamstown with a catchment area of 40k not a the same service? Irish Rail can not grow its commuter numbers unless we have a more frequent service.Tom Dowlinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00997536288285427567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11965515.post-37049893896398489892010-02-06T22:23:01.156+00:002010-02-06T22:23:01.156+00:00One issue Ciaran is that Iarnrod Eireann are refus...One issue Ciaran is that Iarnrod Eireann are refusing to print their timetables - their answer when requested has been - "get them on the internet" or talk to your local TD - while you and I are computer literate a lot of people are notUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04279822620737534983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11965515.post-33855583204296192192010-02-04T11:21:48.943+00:002010-02-04T11:21:48.943+00:00Interesting stuff, Thanks Ciarán.

I have only seen racks that takes 2 bicycles.

Also, there is some small problems with these racks. For example, they are often filled with luggage. It would be great to have a sign placed at the rack saying it is not for luggage. Also useful, would be a big sticker on the outside of the door nearest the rack. So on the platform, you'd know where to head for.Eoin Maddenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10387131524188620661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11965515.post-83173173940682717682010-02-04T10:55:16.846+00:002010-02-04T10:55:16.846+00:00Great news on Clongriffin, and thanks for bringing...Great news on Clongriffin, and thanks for bringing it up. One problem is that the pay & ride parking in Clongriffin is going to be run by Q-Park it appears. I really dont see how an expensive car park will encourage anyone to use the park & ride or the shops that are coming along there.

Surely Irish rail and DCC can run this park for a minimal charge.

Again typical of the money grabbing culture that has destroyed this country. Parking around Howth Junction is free - why go to Clongriffin?Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03728092162435193286noreply@blogger.com
